Cookie Baking Day

Last night Molly,  my very best friend in the whole world stayed overnight.

When we got up this morning first we had breakfast, neither one of us is really a morning person so it was really nice to be able to sleep in today. 

Mom put out some of our favorites so we could choose what we wanted to eat this morning.

We all had a hard time choosing what to eat.

Molly thought those doughnuts looked really good.

I think I might go for an English muffin with some jam and butter.

Molly do you want some milk or juice to drink?

Milk sounds really good with a doughnut!

Michael, wait your turn!!!

 

After we got dressed we decided to bake some cookies. Here are some pictures we took as the day went by.

Molly what do you want to do today?

How about we bake some cookies?

That would be fun, and Valentine's Day is coming up so let's make some for that.

That sounds like fun. Maybe we should have a Valentine's party and invite our friends over tomorrow!

I am so happy to use our new aprons today!

I feel like a real chef with this apron on.

Contemporary Minis Collection- set #3 Reading is Fun-damental Collection

First, no you haven't missed the second set, I haven't gotten them done yet. Well, I have them started but I just haven't gotten finished yet. When I do you will see them.

I love set #3, it is probably my favorite of all the sets. You see it is all books! I love to read and I am sure my dolls do too so this is perfect. These books have titles you might recognize so they fit into a modern day scene easily. They have lots of pages just like a real book, although they are blank pages.

This kit went together really easily and quickly. Just remember to score the covers before you try to fold them.

I did find I needed to print extra pages of the pages,but I did just use regular printer paper for those and not the recommended slightly heavier weight paper. I felt the printer paper would look better and is definitely a better price ( you have 18 pages to print, some multiple times) to fill all these books. So be sure you have plenty of paper before you start.

Probably the most important thing to remember is to double check that you have your printer set up to print your pages with no borders. I found my printer didn't like to stay set up like it was supposed to so I had to check each time, I forgot a few times and got pages that didn't print correctly.

Like all of these kits this one is fun to make and will make staging scenes with my dolls for this blog a lot more fun. They would also add a lot to the imaginative play for kids playing with their dolls.

Hi! It's Allison again I just wanted to show you the picture of Michael and I decorating our Christmas tree this year. We need to get the house all ready for the big day but I wanted to take a moment to wish you all a wonderful holiday season.

Print Minis Contemporary Collection- set 1 Breakfast Glory Collection

I don't know if you are familiar with the site Paper Minis (find it here) but I am a huge fan of the site. It is run by a wonderful lady by the name of Ann and she makes and sells the most wonderful printies I have ever run across. She also puts out a free newsletter which I have subscribed to for many years. Most of her stock is in dollhouse size (1/12^th scale) but some of it also comes in Barbie size (1/6^th scale) as well as American Girl size (1/3^rd scale) Since my background is dollhouse miniatures I have used many of her items over the years. One of the best parts of her free newsletter is that she includes a link to her free printables with it. Most of the free ones come in all scales and there is a wide array of themes.

Now back to the topic I want to talk about today. A few years ago when Ann came out with her Contemporary Collection I subscribed to the set in dollhouse size. I enjoyed getting those pre-printed sheets every month and had a blast putting them all together. I decided this year to subscribe to the same set in the larger 18” doll size. The larger scale set is a little different in that it comes on a CD for you to print out what you need. I think that is going to be a lot of fun and if you mess up one of the pieces you can print another. If you mess up the pre-printed kits you are just out of luck. I received my first installment in the series a few weeks ago but I was too busy to do anything with it until  last week. One thing you do need to print out this kit (in addition to a good printer) is some photo quality paper. I didn't have any on hand so I put it on my shopping list for the week. I only had time to go to my store that I do my grocery shopping in and although it is kind of like a “super store” they only had matte finish photo paper and I really needed to have a semi-gloss paper. I decided to go ahead and get what I could and then coat my finished pieces with some Mod Podge and so far it seems to be working just fine. Hopefully I can get some of the semi-gloss paper next time I actually get into town. (For those that don't know I live in a rural area so trips to town are few and far between)

The first installment of the Contemporary Collection is a wide array of breakfast items for your dolls to enjoy. There are even inserts to for the doughnut box and the English Muffin package to make it look like they really contain the correct items. Since my background in dollhouse miniatures is primarily dollhouse foods I will be making my own foods to fill all (or at least most) of my sets in the series.

I want to share my finished pieces with you here. You will probably be seeing the kids using some of these items in future blog posts so stay tuned for those. I will also be posting as I get the rest of the series and complete them so you can see how they turn out. 

The only piece I really was not happy with when it was finished was the egg carton so I just glued the lid shut and that fixed that problem. LOL

As I assembled the sugar/sweetener packets I did put just a pinch of sand in each one before gluing closed. I also filled the bag of coffee with some cheap small beads to make it feel like it was full of coffee beans. I haven't filled the coffee cups yet although I might try to do just that with some resin, I am not sure if it would work or not though.

An Introduction

Hi Everyone!!!

Hi my name is Allison and I have been elected to introduce all of us dolls that you will be seeing here on this blog. (I heard a rumor that we might even get to be in some videos but I am not sure yet about that)

Anyway I'm Allison and I am here with my friends, and my brother and his best friend so that you can meet all of us at one time. We decided to get together for some pizza, since it is always a good time for pizza.

I was told to keep this short so here goes:

Allison

I love to ice skate I used to skate all the time where I used to live but there isn't a rink here. Mom says that she thinks one will be built soon and when it is we can all go skating, I am so excited. I hope my skates still fit.

I also love to read, I love horses (mom says maybe we can get a horse soon) and my favorite color is purple.

Michael

This is my brother, Michael, he really loves anything to do with space and space travel and he loves to read sci-fi books and watch movies about space. His favorite color is red and when he isn't driving me nuts we get along pretty well.

Molly

This is my best friend Molly, she loves to read too and she also loves to write and do just about anything on the computer. She is probably the only reason I passed our science class last year.

Jeremy

This is Jeremy, he's Michael's best friend and he likes to do stuff outside, he loves to skate board, he can play just about any sport that has a ball involved and he also loves to read. He and Michael have a lot of fun together just being guys.

Jennifer

This is our friend Jennifer, she loves to skate, both roller skate and ice skate. She is going to teach me to roller skate really soon.

Jazmin

And this is Jazmin, she loves animals and anything to do with music. She is always singing and she is really really good at it. She also loves animals and wants to grow up to help them in some way.

So that's the gang I hope you come back to see what we are up to from time to time.

Some posts on this blog will be about us and what we are doing and some will be just about the stuff that Joanne is making.
